Our dedicated logistics team handles thousands of shipments every year to destinations all around the country and world. We analyse mountains of data to arrive at the most efficient and cost-effective transport plans that match the needs and budget of our clients.

We have assembled all resources necessary to see to the safe transit and delivery of imports and exports to their final destinations.

Using a combination of our own fleets and those of partner networks and trusted providers around the world, we can reliably ensure that all consignments we handle complete their journey in a safe condition and arrive in good time.

Our bespoke solutions cater to consignments that contain standard and special cargo such as those requiring temperature control or are of an abnormal load. We also offer tailored solutions for consignments whose transit take us off global trade routes. Through our specialist and charter services, we can accommodate whatever out of the ordinary demands our clients make of us.

Our range of logistical services feature:

Multimodal Services

In order for many of the consignments we handle to arrive at their destination, there is often a need to make changes along the way. We will often use a combination of aircraftsea vessels, and road vehicles to get the job done. This transit can begin even from pickup right at customers’ premises. For consignments coming out of the UK and Ireland, we do offer the services of our road hauliers. We have modern trucks and articulated vehicles that can accommodate cargo of various sizes.

Alternatively, customers may deliver their shipments to one of our 10 hubs, which we will then carry out freight forwarding. Our clients can also collect any imports made at the same hubs or have us make delivery to their premises. Our road haulage ad courier services make door to door delivery possible at a reasonable cost and fast pace.

When it comes to our European destinations, we make use of highly regarded networks like Palletways. With over 300 members in this network, spread across 20 countries, we ensure safe delivery. This network provides an online portal for monitoring of consignments in transit, which complements the use of our own REDS online tracking.

With multiple other partner providers across the globe, we arrange for a travel schedule that meets the timing and budgeting needs of our clients. Our wide network and large number of consignments make us ideally placed to negotiate for competitive rates for our clients. Whatever vehicle that is needed in the air, on the sea and land, we can organise for it and coordinate the entire process, so shipments arrive and depart on time and cost-effectively.

Tracking Services

Once customers hand over their consignments into our custody, there is always a concern about how far along they are in transit. Depending on pick-up location and destination, delivery can vary anywhere between a few hours to weeks. Whether the cargo is to be delivered overseas or domestically, our online tracking capability allows customers to be at ease with a process that is out of their hands.

Most road and sea cargo will be loaded on to containers, while airfreight is usually in crates. Our containers are GPS enabled while air cargo in wooden crates is barcoded. The GPS trackers allow customers with online access to pinpoint their exact location, anywhere in the world. Through our portal our clients are granted access, it is simple to learn the exact location of every consignment. Our clients can also share this access with their own end-user customers that are to receive the shipments.

Our fleet of domestic trucks and articulated vehicles have also been GPS enabled to further enhance security and adherence to shipping schedules. They operate out of our 10 hubs, 8 being in the UK and 2 in Ireland.

Our KRL system provides updates on such details as to when border and customs clearance is given. Details on every stage of transit are updated, offering a good way to keep a record of documentation for each consignment and its passage.

KRL offers packing services for consignments that are unsecured. We have been building timber and plywood crates for over 30 years and are duly licensed to work with these materials by the Forestry Commission. Each crate is barcoded and pictures of the finished product uploaded to our system.

Several of our partner networks also have online tracking services and real-time system-generated updates. We facilitate this access when and if these networks are made a part of consignments’ transit.

Warehousing

Our warehousing services can support many purposes. Amongst them are customs bonded facilities for customers who are as yet unable to cover duty and tax charges. Their cargo can be temporarily held at our warehouse until finances become available. CFSP is often used for special cargo shipments that may require expedited transit through customs.

These warehouses are also a part of the supply chain support we extend to manufacturing businesses. We hold inventories of raw materials and finished products and transport them to the business premises and end-user customers according to demand. Supply chain services are tailored to individual customer business needs. We provide not just warehousing, but also logistical service that will see the movement of their commodities occur in a timely fashion and optimal cost.

For retailers and manufacturers that provide sell their products to internationally to end-users, our pick and pay service is ideal. As we stock inventories of finished goods, we can dip into them to fulfil small purchase orders and immediately dispatch them to whatever destination. This makes for faster delivery and savings in costs as the items are sent out from our facilities rather than being picked up from the customer’s premises first.

Our customers get to enjoy high visibility of their cargo and the ability to dispatch them onwards without having them shipped to their premises. We have experience offering these services to businesses that deal in:

Customs Assistance

For novices to the process, customs issues can seem challenging, and they are. There is a myriad of documentation that has to be put together correctly and multiple rules to abide by. A small mistake can result in heavy fines which can make the entire process of importing or exporting that much more expensive and delayed.

KRL is highly experienced and knowledgeable in handling customs issues. We offer detailed guidance on the paperwork that will need to be provided for cargo to get through the ports of the exporting and importing countries and vice versa. We also understand how to deal with customs even in non-English speaking nations to avoid mishaps. We are well-versed in Incoterms and will review your contract to ensure it covers all relevant areas.

As an Authorised Economic Operator (AEO), KRL is qualified to work with customs authorities from multiple countries and enjoy simplified customs procedures. The consignments we handle tend to be processed more efficiently thanks to this ‘trusted trader’ status. This designation also reassures clients that KRL’s international supply chains are secure.

Besides customs clearance, importation/exportation requires other special arrangements including letters of credit and insurance. KRL is able to help with these details so you can better focus on your core business. This ability to coordinate and comply correctly with customs procedures from different territories is of benefit to logistics by enabling the smooth passage of consignments at ports and borders points. This allows for better adherence to schedules and guarantees timely deliveries.

Pick and Pack Services

Many retailers and manufacturers sell their products directly to end-users in foreign countries. This has become a booming business since the development of online shopping. Buyers are no longer restricted to making purchases within their country. They can now shop for individual items from anywhere across the world with just a debit or credit card.

KRL offers pick and pack services for businesses that cater to this segment of the market. Rather than have the items shipped from their premises. They use our service to have our warehouse crew pick out order items from their inventories of finished goods and package them for onward delivery, hence the pick and pack. We then utilise our freight forwarding services to deliver said items to whatever destination indicated by the order.

This service helps to reduce transport costs for our participating clients and encourage quick delivery as we can put them in transit immediately. We offer a streamlined service that provides efficient order fulfilment and an easy way for clients to monitor stock levels via REDS.

This service has proven particularly helpful during peak shopping periods like Black Friday and Christmas. some of the items we have much experience handling through pick and pack include sporting goods, electronic items, and mobile communications

Supply Chain Transport

Many cargo items must be properly encased to be safely transported, especially if they are of a small and loose nature. Wooden cases are a good way to contain such items and provide a simple means of transferring the cargo from location to location. KRL has over 30 years of experience making plywood and timber cases. They are custom built to suit the dimensions of the cargo to be transported.

Wood cases are ideal for their ability to be stacked, sturdy nature, and being eco-friendly. They also stand up well to even the most extreme of climatic conditions. We have built such cases for a myriad of products including:

Encasing cargo helps to not only keep control of the cargo but also minimise the risk of damage to the cargo and other clients’ property if sharing a container. Even delicate items can be well stored in wood cases without fear of harm. For LCL and LTL shipping, such cases or crates help make separating cargo from different clients that are being shipped together easier to discern. To ensure there is no confusion, RTL barcodes each case to keep ownership straight.

Turning multiple small items into one single unit also makes transporting them easier and cheaper. Less time is wasted hand carrying a few items at a time over just once with a forklift.

Our experience also means we can ensure that your consignment meets shipping standards, making it easier to adhere to dispatch schedules.

While we do offer this service at our workshop, we prefer to carry out the work at the customer’s premises. This allows the client to see for themselves the quality of the work and helps reduce transportation costs. From a logistical standpoint, it is more efficient.

We are duly approved and registered to supply and work with these wood materials by the Forestry Commission.
